The maiden edition of the Muslimah Wordsmiths' WriterCon launched in 2020, and the theme for this year's conference was: Becoming an exceptional, confident, and successful writer. The three-day live, online conference took place between the 24th and 26th of July, 2020. It featured industry experts who shared their knowledge about writing, speaking, publishing and how to monetise skills. The facilitators for the 2020 edition are shown below.
SPEAKERS
Hafsah bint Nurein is a Writer, Book Editor and the author of the novel – To Err is Human and The Turmoil Trilogy. She is the convener of the Muslimah Wordsmiths’ WriterCon.
Hafsah served as a judge for the Dr. M.M Balogun Essay Competition for two years (2018 and 2019)

Salmah Adetutu Lawal is a Broadcaster, an Educationist, Human resource consultant, A writer, An author and an Avid reader.
A graduate of English Education from the Lagos State University, also has an MBA (HRM) from the same university. She is a chartered administrator. She belongs to various professional bodies which include – The International Institute of Business Analysts (IIBA), The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Chartered Institute of Administration ((CIA).
She started her career with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), and retired to her own business after 15 years of work experience. She runs her own Media and Educational consulting firm, and also an online Islamic lifestyle store.
Salmah is a published author of two books, FORTIFIED and ISLAM IS BEAUTIFUL.

Bashirat Abdulwahab is a trained journalist turned Helping Practitioner, Corporate Trainer and Social Entrepreneur. She holds an M.Sc. in Mass Communications and has evolved over the years with certifications and competencies in Neuro Linguistic programming, bereavement/grief counseling and management, emotional intelligence, mental health first aid, writing and self-publishing, community development and psychosocial work. Bashirat is an accredited practitioner by the Complementary Therapists Accredited Association (CTAA).
She currently hosts various master classes across Nigeria and teaches life transforming online courses via her web- based platform. She also helps Corporate organisations and teams infuse Emotional Intelligence into their work ethics for improved performance and growth.
Bashirat has been featured and interviewed on various media platforms to include Daily Trust Newspaper, Blueprint, Armed Forces Radio. Rhythm FM and was named Woman Extraordinaire by Search Inwards Magazine in 2018. She is a member of Abuja Literary Society.

‘Umm Naml is the pseudonym for a Nigerian author whose birth name is Medinat Ize Musa. Although resides in Kaduna with her family, she is originally from Kogi State, and speaks Ebira dialect fluently.
She is the founder of Umm Naml Reads (UNR), which publishes an online magazine quarterly. Umm Naml has published her first set of children books in paperbacks, started publishing her first Islamic fiction on Wattpad, titled ‘The Other Side of An Unbroken Mirror’, has held five online writing workshops and is currently running a three-month online course on narrative writing for children and young adults.
Umm Naml is a book lover – which is expected right? Yes, anything from reading to writing will make her love you forever, but her other hobbies include learning, teaching, researching, designing, hand craft and kitchen craft.

Sabiqah Bello is a teenage writer, spoken word artist and Certified Youth Trainer.
